Geraldine T.A. Ah Sam's Obituary
Geri Ah Sam died on April 14, 2018 under the compassionate care of Kula Hospital and Hospice Maui.
Born on February 5, 1940 in Puunene to Manuel and Ida (Farias) Perreira, Geri graduated from St. Anthony High School in 1958, and later in life, went on to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree from UHMC. She served the adult mental health community most of her life, working for many years at Hale Ike, then retiring as Deputy Director of Ka Lima O Maui.
Geri is survived by children Craylan P. Ah Sam and Geralyn M. Onaga, (Colin Yamamoto) and grandchildren Bailey and Beth Onaga. The family is very thankful to the exceptional staff of Kula Hospital, Hospice Maui, Dr. Michael Savona and Marianne Mattos, Dr. Samuel Lyons and staff, Maui Adult Day Care Centers, Kaunoa Senior Services Assisted Transportation Program, the Maui County Office on Aging, Hale Mahaolu Personal Care Program, Shelly Wingad, Dwight Muraoka, Margie Albete, and the St. Anthony Class of 1958 for helping Geri and her family live their best during her remaining days. A special mahalo to close friends Colleen Cluney and Leilani Hayes, the Stanley Canha Ohana, St. Anthony Church, Nakamura Mortuary and our neighbors on Pio Drive for their kindness as it takes a great community to support those affected by dementia. Geri was remembered during regular masses held at St. Anthony Church and a private scattering of her ashes is planned. Condolences may be sent to P.O. Box 2065, Wailuku, 96793.
