Glenn Way Marsteller Jr.'s Obituary
Glenn Marsteller
Glenn, 72, of Maui, Hawaii, passed away on June 22, 2023.
He passed away in Wailuku, Maui at his home while surrounded by family and listening to his favorite songs that were special and loved by him and his family through his life…such as I Can Only Imagine by Mercy Me which was also special to his late father. Summer Breeze by Seals & Crofts, that is inscribed inside his and his wife's wedding rings. Also, Reflections Of Love by Hillary Stagg, a song listened to often in his home while his children were young. A few weeks before he passed, Glenn talked about how while listening to the classical flute and harp song by Hillary Stagg he could see his soul leaving at his most favorite part of the song and soaring above the clouds, up over the West Maui Mountains to Heaven to be with the Lord. Glenn was called home and went to be with Jesus exactly at the moment his family played his favorite song and his favorite part of the song started. He was unable to talk but his family felt in their heart they should play the songs that were special to him. Only after he passed did his family remember what he had told them about the song weeks before.
Glenn Way Marsteller the Second was born in Youngstown, Ohio on August 23rd, 1951 to his parents Glenn Way Marsteller Senior and Margaret Marsteller. He was raised there with his little sister Jackie Marsteller (Jackie Anderson). Glenn later moved to California with his family in 1965 and attended Grossmont Highschool. He often spoke of the things he missed about Ohio such as a cherry tree in his backyard as a kid and the salamanders in the stream he would visit. He also loved to share the many adventures with his family and friends he had in California after meeting his love Lyn Marsteller when they were young. They went down The Grand Canyon Rapids, often went skiing in Big Bear California, and often went hiking and camping. After getting married in August of 1977 in Coranado in a little white steeple church, later having a Hawaiian themed wedding on a boat in San Diego, Point Loma Harbor. Glenn and his wife Lyn continued their adventure to Tahiti for their honeymoon where they fell in love with the island way of life. In July 1983 Glenn and Lyn were blessed with their first son, Glenn Way Marsteller the Third and decided to continue their adventure in Hawaii, moving to the island of Maui in 1986. There Glenn and his wife were blessed with two more children Auston Marsteller and Sheila Marsteller, now Sheila Oldenburg.
Glenn had many wonderful adventures with his family while spending the rest of his life on Maui. Everywhere his family looks on the island they have many wonderful memories! Glenn's love for his family and friends was constant and he was always there for them.
He loved being involved in his church, handing out Daily Breads and attending Bible studies. He recently started a new prayer group at King's Cathedral on Maui called Gideon 300. Glenn is survived by his 94-year-old mother Margaret Marsteller, his wife Lyn Marsteller, his three children; Glenn Marsteller the Third, Auston Marsteller, Sheila Oldenburg and his five grandchildren; Levi Marsteller, Liam Marsteller, Arabelle Oldbenurg, Kyriella Oldenburg, and Amari Rose Oldenburg.
