Glenn Norito Watanabe's Obituary
Glenn “Tapat” Norito Watanabe was born in Paia, Maui on September 7, 1948 and raised in Puʻunene, Maui. Glenn passed away peacefully on April 9, 2021 in Kahului, Maui.
Glenn was an avid sports fan, from following professional leagues to supporting our local teams. More so, he loved to talk story and his day job was to get you to smile or better, laugh. Above all, he was a caring friend to his loved ones and everyone he met.
Glenn worked at the Sheraton Maui, starting as a night auditor and retiring as a PBX operator in 2011 with 33 years of service. He enjoyed his work but really excelled in interacting with guests and being personable with co-workers. He received recognition for the excellence in his work as well as appreciation from guests from around the world for his “Aloha Spirit”.
He was preceded by his parents, Mamoru “Super” and Noriko Watanabe.
He is survived by his wife, Victoria Juan Watanabe; sister, Louise Wandasan; sons, Brody (Leslie) Watanabe and Taylor Watanabe; and grandchildren, Leyla Brier and Lenora Blair.
Respects may be given at Nakamura Mortuary on Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 10am-11am. A private service will follow. Face masks are required and seating is limited to family members only. Walk in is limited to 10 persons at a time with social distancing in place.
