Goro Fujikawa's Obituary
Goro Fujikawa, 89, of Hana, passed away at home on May 11, 2016.
Services honoring Mr. Fujikawa will be held at Nakamura Mortuary on Friday, June 3, 2016. A public visitation will begin at 10:00am, with services beginning at 11:00am. He will be laid to rest at Maui Memorial Park at 12:30pm.
Nakamura Mortuary is assisting with arrangements.
Goro was born on September 2, 1926 in Hana to Rinzuchi & Shina Fujikawa. After graduating Hana High School, Goro worked as a clerk at Hasegawa Store. He then served in the military as an interpreter during WWII. Upon his return, he became employed as an accountant with the Hana Ranch. After retiring, Goro stayed active. He played tennis daily, maintained his hot house with his prized anthuriums, and baked for neighbors and friends. Goro was always awaiting his next trip to Las Vegas, and was able to make the trip twice a year to hit the slot machines.
Goro was predeceased by his parents, Rinzuchi & Shina (Kawashimura) Fujikawa; brothers, Isaichi, Yoiichi, Saburo, Shiro, Kanichi & Hideo Fujikawa; sisters, Sumie (Sally) Sumida, Hinae Fujikawa & Carol (Kazue) Ichikawa.
Mr. Fujikawa is survived by sisters, Edna (Fusae) (Kenneth) Asato of Kona, Jean (Natsue) (Henry) Higuchi of Huntington Beach, CA; sister-in-law, Katherine (Kay) Fujikawa; brother-in-law, James (Theo) Ichikawa; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
