Grace Hiroko Murakami's Obituary
Grace Hiroko Murakami, 85, of Wailuku, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2020, with loving family by her side. By her request private services honoring Mrs. Murakami will be held later this year. Nakamura Mortuary is assisting with arrangements.
Grace was born on May 7, 1934 to Matsuji and Kameyo Kigawa of Spreckelsville, Maui.
Mrs. Murakami was a registered nurse (Queen's Hospital School of Nursing) for 16 years, then obtained a degree in Education from the University of Hawaii and taught at Wailuku Elementary School for 15 years, retiring in 1989. Grace loved her family, making feather lei, tending her flower and vegetable gardens, sewing, playing mahjong, knitting, caring for her grandkids and watching them grow.
Grace leaves to cherish her memory: her beloved husband of 62 years, Ralph M. Murakami; sister Betsy (Arthur) Ishida; daughters Pamela Murakami and Patti (Randy) Endo; son Kevin (Mike) Murakami; and grandchildren Nick and Emma.
