Grant Nagamatsu's Obituary
Grant Nagamatsu of South Jordan, Utah, passed away in his home on January 16, 2021, due to complications from Covid-19. He was 47 years old.
Grant was born on January 26, 1973, to Stanley and Ann Nagamatsu in Wailuku, Maui, Hawaii, where he spent his youth.
Grant attended both the University of Hawaii and Brigham Young University, Provo, for his undergraduate education. He served a 2-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Japan Kobe, Osaka, and Sendai Missions. Upon his return, he continued his education and graduated from the J. Rueben Clark Law School at BYU in 2001. He worked as a criminal defense attorney for the cities of Orem and Provo, Utah.
To those who knew him, Grant was a kind and gentle, genuine, selfless soul who had the biggest heart. He enjoyed many things in life - tennis, football, scary books and movies, and all things Hawaii. He loved and cherished his relationships with his family and friends. Above all, his greatest joy in life was just being Dad to his 3 wonderful girls, Keahi, Kamaile and Lily. He is survived by his daughters and their mother, Valynne, parents, sister Chris (Jonathan Bennion) and their 3 sons, and his Utah family, the Howard Maetani Family of Orem.
Grant is predeceased by his grandparents, Charles and Lillian Nagamatsu and Albert and Hanayo Nakamura.
Due to current public health recommendations, there are no plans for a public service.
The family requests no flowers or koden.
