Gwendolyn Ewalani Bailey's Obituary
Gwendolyn Ewalani Bailey passed away on Friday December 6, 2024, at Maui Memorial Hospital. She was born in Honolua Bay on March 11, 1941, and raised in Lahaina, Maui Hawaii. Parents Joseph and Mary Shim, brothers and sisters Stanley, Gilbert, Rodney, Leona and Royland (predeceased Adrian, Gerald, Michael and Beverly).
Mom was a ONE of a kind soul and the last of her kind in the family. Ewalani loved to help her community, family, children and husband. Retired from Twin Pine Savings, Berkely and Kihei School District of Maui.
Ewalani was an amazing genealogist dating the family back to the royal family. She spoke to so many people on a daily basis that her phone was her best friend!
Mom was also involved with her Hawaiian Culture. She was a member of Alulike, The Kaahumanu Ladies and the Royal Order. Staying very active in the community she helped with the Sovereignty for the people of Hawaii earning many awards throughout her time on earth. She will be missed by MANY.
Gwendolyn Ewalani Shim Bailey is survived by her husband Fredrick Bailey and his 4 children, her son Rennie Kealii DePrue, twin daughter Rene Noelani DePrue, 6 grandchildren Brittannye, Brandon, Renelle, Cheyanne, Chase, and Katrya, 7 great grandchildren Brandon, Julian, Alexa, Jayce, Brooklyn Skye, Keanu and baby Mahina, hanai (adopted) family she help to raise Momi, Sonny, Tammy, Corrina, and Corey.
Mom will join in heaven her beautiful, gorgeous, and wonderful daughter Renet Kaleo DePrue.

Services for Gwedolyn Ewalani Bailey will be held at Nakamura Mortuary on January 18th, 2025, from 9:45am - 12:00pm entombment to follow at 12:30 in Maui Memorial Park. A luncheon will be held at Kihei Kalama Beach Park Pavillion.
