Harold Hachiro Inamasu's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Harold Hachiro "Archie" Inamasu on March 01, 2026.
Archie was born on December 10, 1926, to Nisaburo and Tsuruyo Inamasu and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Archie was predeceased in death by Takumi (Lillian) Inamasu, Taiji (Yoshie "Ruby") Inamasu, Saburo (Sueko) Inamasu, Buster Inamasu, Hideo Inamasu, Yukie "Charlotte" (Charles) Takahashi, Fujie "Nell" (Hisao) Suzuki, Tomio (Reiko) Inamasu and Chester Yoshito Inamasu.
Upon graduating from Maui High School, Archie was stationed in Germany as part of the U.S.
Army. After his discharge, he returned to Maui, married Janet Makimoto and spent 72 years together. Archie worked for over 30 years for Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Company and spent most of his career as a welder. Archie was an avid bird hunter and fisherman. Weekends in the winter were for bird hunting with his faithful German Shorthaired Pointers and Brittany Spaniels. Weekends in the summer were spent fishing for mamo, papio, halalu and oama. Thursday nights were reserved for bowling at Aloha Lanes in the HC&S league.
Archie was predeceased by his wife Janet and is survived by his son Wendell and daughter-in-law Sally Gretz.
We would like to thank the staff at Hale Mahaolu Akahi where they looked after Dad and Mom like family and shared their catches of fresh fish. Thank you to the Maui Memorial Medical Center for their kind and sympathetic support.
Funeral Services will be held at the Wailuku Hongwanji Mission on Sunday, March 22, 2026.
Visitation begins at 11:00 a.m., Service at 12:00 p.m. and lunch to follow. The family kindly requests no koden.
