Harold Henry Sylva's Obituary
Harold Sylva of Pukalani passed away peacefully at home at the age of 78. He was born in Pu‘unene and raised in Wailuku.
Harold graduated from Baldwin High School in 1957, and thereafter dedicated his life as a heavy equipment operator and foremen with various companies including Tommy Decoite, Ige Construction, and DNL Construction. He was the “jack of all trades.”
Harold enjoyed surfing in his youth and fishing in his adulthood, he shared lots of stories with friends and family. He raised his family in Pukalani, Koali, Ocean View, and Ula‘ino.
Harold is predeceased by father Henry Moroni Sylva of Wailuku, mother Deolinda Coito of Kohala, son Hanalei (Harold Jr.), and widowed by Elsie Kuailani.
Harold is survived by wife Robin Ho‘opai Sylva; sons Keith Kuailani (Gizelle), Cassidy (Ivy), and Shaft (Kristin); daughter Roxie (Reuben); hanai son Peter Feliciano (Niki); hanai daughters Maydoria Malaikini (Guy) and Brandy Feliciano; grandsons Mark, Luka, and Hanalei Jr.; grand-daughters Miya, Kayleen, Kaiya, and Penny May; and siblings Linda, Dorothy, and Donald.
Per Harold’s wishes, he will be cremated and no services will be held. However, there will be a celebration of his life on Sunday, June 25th at Haiku Community Center from 11am-5pm. His remains will be scattered another time.
The Sylva ‘Ohana would like to mahalo all of Harold’s friends and family for their love and support during this time, as well as Harold’s doctors and their staff for their compassion.
