Harumi Doris Miyahira's Obituary
Doris Harumi Miyahira, 94, of Makawao, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2018, under the compassionate care of Hospice Maui and her loving family.
Services honoring Mrs. Miyahira will be held at Nakamura Mortuary on Saturday, April 7, 2018. Visitation will begin at 10:00am, with services beginning at 11:00am.
Doris was born in Makawao on January 21, 1924 to Taichiro & Sakuyo Matsuura. In March of 1950, she married her love, Mr. Yoshio Miyahira, and together they raised their children. Mrs. Miyahira worked as a sales clerk at Robins until she retired. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing and cooking. She also learned how to swim, play the ukulele and pottery. She will be remembered as someone who loved Japanese dancing, her children and grandchildren.
Doris was predeceased by her husband, Mr. Yoshio Miyahira. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughters, Anna Mau (Brenda), Barbara Joaquin & Carol (Ivan) Nakashima; son, Lyle (Winifred) Miyahira; 8 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Violet Sakai; and sister-in-laws, Doris Matsuura, Jean Miyahira and Eva Miyahira.
Our family would like to thank Hospice Maui whose employees are truly angels. Mom was truly blessed to have spent her last days at the “hale”. All the attention and love showed to our mom from all the employees there was very comforting to us. They are truly like part of our family. We will never forget all of you.
