Lono Ohana,
May Helena's light be in our hearts forever. I think of you all often, my sister and i have many wonderful and fun memories of the Lono Family. I have many memories of Helena but two seems to stand out the most. One day we decided not to go to school, well as you all know back then their was only one t.v. station, and the screen was snowy, so we got bored fussing with it. We decided to go in the back of the house, " up house" as it is known to most of you growing up in Honokalani. We proceeded to roll up the ulu leaf and smoke it, well to our surprise it burned so fast it nearly burned our faces. We kept that secret for a long time and laughed our heads off. Another time we all went night fishing with Tutu Lucy, Yvonne, myself, Helena and my sister Laverne. We went by popoo where everyone jumps off to swim to Haili. We all had bamboo poles and our lines was in the water, i felt a nudge on my line so i pulled it up so fast that it swung around on the other side and oh! my gosh, Helena said you hooked my eye,! boy was i in a panic then, Tutu Lucy was not happy with me, she had to come over and cut the line, and take Helena to the clinic in Hana and have it removed, poor Helena, thankfully it was her eye lid and not her eye. That ended our night fishing Ha! Our paths have taken us in two completely different directions, we never really kept in touch except for a few occasions my short visits back to Hana. and through Kaihu when i use to be on facebook. She called me once long time ago and we talked forever. I have lots of favorite cousins but i have to say Helena is my all time favorite. She is my hero, i have loved her forever.
LOve to you all,
Cousin,
