Humiko "Lorraine" Fujiyama's Obituary
Humiko “Lorraine” Fujiyama, 95, of Lahaina, passed away peacefully at home under the compassionate care of Hospice Maui and her loving family.
Services honoring Mrs. Fujiyama will be held at Lahaina Hongwanji Mission on Saturday, September 30, 2017. Visitation will begin at 9:00am, with a memorial service beginning at 10:00am. She will then be laid to eternal rest at Maui Memorial Park at 2:00pm.
Humiko was born in Lahaina on December 5, 1921 to Moshichi & Sueme Iwamura. In 1954, she married her love, Mr. Yoshiyuki "Yot" Fujiyama and together they raised two children. Lorraine was an excellent cook, sharing her culinary talent with locals and visitors alike at the Banyan Inn until her retirement in 1987. She was also a long-time faithful member of Lahaina Hongwanji. She will fondly be remembered as a kind and generous woman, who valued family above all else.
Mrs. Fujiyama was predeceased by her beloved husband of 62 years, Mr. Yoshiyuki "Yot" Fujiyama; sister, Kimie Yoshida; and brother, Yoshinori Iwamura.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, son, Dale (Roxane) Fujiyama; daughter Lisa (Robert Jenkins) Fujiyama; grandson, Barry Kawakami; granddaughter, Tara (Melbert) Ulep; and greatgrandchildren, Melina & Triton Ulep. She is also survived by sister, Tokiyo "Thelma" Yamada; and brothers, Rocky Shigetoshi (Sumiko) Iwamura & Noriyuki (Chieko) Iwamura; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
The family would also like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Galen Wiger and staff at Lahaina Kaiser, Dr. Ellen Chuang and staff at Wailuku Kaiser, doctors and staff at Maui Memorial Medical Center, and Hospice Maui.
