Ida was born on July 17, 1935 in Bangued, Abra, Philippines. After immigrating to Maui in 1946, she attended and graduated from St. Anthony High School, class of 1957.
Following her graduation, Ida married her first husband, Bernardo G. Barbero, in 1958, embarking on her journey into motherhood with three sons. They enjoyed 48 years of marriage before she was widowed once more in 2015.
Ida devoted her life to being a loving wife and mother. Although she briefly worked as a life insurance agent, her primary focus remained on nurturing her family. She was also employed at Clyde Shoe Store, Central Pacific Bank, Roland’s Shoe Store, and the County of Maui Department of Motor Vehicles Driver's Licensing Division as a translator.
Ida is survived by her children: Bernard (Virginia) Barbero, Wilburt “Wilipaki” Barbero, Lee Anthony (Tanya) Barbero, Lisa Ann Visitacion (Micah Sean) Moore, Juliet Bio Visitacion (Errol) Hammonds, and Dan Leo Visitacion. She was predeceased by her parents, Francisco and Catalina Bio; her brothers, Mariano and Beato Bio; and her sister, Clara Bio Mendoza.
Known for her cheerful disposition and infectious smile, Ida was gracious and hospitable, embodying resilience and care. Her faith and devotion to God inspired her to serve both the Church and the community, actively participating in various Filipino organizations during her early years.
