James R. Dicks, Sr's Obituary
James R. Dicks, Sr, of Kihei, Hawaii, passed away on June 26, 2024. He was born on July 11, 1936, in Dayton, Ohio, to John N. Dicks, and Virginia Deis Dicks.
Known to family and friends as Jim, he attended Holy Angels, St. Thomas Military Academy and the University of Dayton. Afterwards, he enlisted in the US Army serving in Signals intelligence in Hawaii and Southeast Asia from 1958 until 1964.
Upon his return to civilian life, he met and wed his wife of 44 years, Patricia Herbert Dicks. Jim started a software development company and a property management company. Jim continued his involvement in property management past his retirement by participating in CAl legislative action committees in both Ohio and Hawaii.
In addition, Jim was active as a referee for over thirty-two years. Starting with SAY and later as a USSF official, he officiated soccer at many levels, youth, high school and amateur leagues, and on the rare occasion, college matches. He was also active as a state level referee assessor, served on SAY Soccer Boards locally and nationally, as well as the board of directors of the Dayton Area Soccer Officials, and the Ohio South State Referee Committee.
Jim is survived by his sons, Theordore (Tad), and James, Jr. (Jamie); his brothers Robert and John, Jr.; and his sisters-in-law, Gail and Nancy.
Tad and Jamie ask that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Heart Association in memory of Jim. A celebration of life is planned for later this year.
