James Masato Nakamoto's Obituary
James Masato Nakamoto, known to family and friends as "Jimmy", passed away on March 19, 2018 at the age of 74.
Jimmy was born in Pu'unene, Maui. He graduated from Maui High School (Hamakuapoko, Maui) in 1961. He also earned a two year degree from Maui Technical School (now Maui Community College). After serving in Vietnam with the U.S. Army, he went on to work as a foreman at the Maui Electric Company; retiring after 25 years.
Jimmy will be remembered by his sisters, Harriet (Tom) Kitazawa, Luella (Howard) Nishimoto, brother, Gerald Nakamoto and "Hanai brother", David Hongo. He will also be fondly remembered by his numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends. Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents Edward and Doris Nakamoto; as well as sister, Phyllis Sadako Freitas.
Private services were held on April 29, 2018 at the Makawao Hongwanji Mission on Maui. The family requests no monetary donations or flowers. His ashes will be scattered at sea on Oahu.
