Jane N. Nakama's Obituary
Jane Namiko Nakama, 88, of Wailuku, Maui passed away peacefully on April 1, 2017 at Hale Makua Kahului, surrounded by her loving family.
Services honoring Mrs. Nakama will be held at Grace Bible Church in Kahului on Saturday, April 22, 2017. Visitation will begin at 9:30am with memorial services beginning at 10:30am. Jane personally requested no flowers and casual attire.
Jane was born on May 21, 1928 in Kuiaha, Haiku to Kama & Oto Shimabukuro. She was the 6th of 10 children born to the couple. She graduated from Maui High School with the class of 1946. In 1949, she married her love, Mr. Sadao Nakama and together they raised four sons. Mrs. Nakama retired from the Maui Public Library as a Library Assistant. Jane was also a very athletic woman, she played golf and tennis and would watch just about any sport. She loved watching any UH sport, almost as much as she loved watching her own boys play. At home, she will be remembered for her wonderful home cooked meals, especially her chicken hekka and andagi.
Mrs. Nakama was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, Mr. Sadao “Sada” Nakama; brothers, Robert, Clyde, Jim, Roy & Donald Shimabukuro & Kenneth Shimabuku; and sister, June Ono. She is survived by her four sons, Leebrick (Irene), Gary (Susan), Randall (Michelle) and David (Sue) Nakama; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sister, Helene Miyashiro; brother, Stanley Shimabukuro.
