Jean C. Souza's Obituary
Jean C. Souza, 85, of Kahului, passed away peacefully at Hospice Maui Hale on February 28, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 16, 1931 in Hamakuapoko, Maui.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Christ the King Church in Kahului from 9:00am to 11:00am. Service will begin at 11:00am followed by burial at Maui Memorial Park at 12:30pm. Nakamura Mortuary is assisting with the arrangements.
Jean lived in Hana where she learned to sing and play the ukulele. She entertained with the Boy Builders Police Club and with the Kanikapila Five at the Maui Lu Resort. She was an active member of Christ the King Church where she baked sweet bread, sang in the church choir and volunteered as a collection counter. She retired from Credit Associates of Maui. We will miss her cooking, baking, sewing, singing, daily texts and jokes.
Jean was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Arthur Souza, her son Glenn Michael Souza, and her brother Joseph Cugal. She is survived by her daughters, Brenda (Tom) Phillips and Lugene (Steve) Bulger; brothers, Richard Cugal and Clifton Cugal; grandchildren, Luana (Matthew) Kele, Jen (Roma Tuaoa) Phillips, Melanie (Randy) Wong, Kylee (Noah Kauhane) Phillips, Micah and Michaela Bulger; great-grandchildren, Matthew Kekoa (Kylie Silva) Kele, Liana and Sidney Tanaka, Skyler, Landon, Haeley and Maddyx Wong, and Leiah Kauhane; great-great grandchildren, Kalia & Kolten Kele.
