Joanne Esstella Kuebler Kessler's Obituary
On Saturday, August 29 at 9:25 AM, Joanne (Jody) Estella Kuebler Kessler peacefully passed away at the age of 67. Jody was born on June 27, 1953 in Rock Island, Illinois to Kenneth Kuebler and Patricia Gannon Kuebler and grew up in Bettendorf, Iowa. After high school, she attended the University of Iowa. In 1980, she moved to Maui, where she remained until her death - drawn to the Hawaiian culture and its people.
Jody was a people person - quick to smile, easy to talk with and comfortable with strangers. Second only to her passion for people were cooking and creating with her hands. She loved music and grew up singing and harmonizing with her sisters. Jody held many positions, ranging from restaurant hostess, to owning her own cleaning business, to managing boutiques. All along the way, she met people and made friends because of her open heart. She had a unique ability to remember faces and names. People were drawn to her warmth and wit.
She is survived by her partner, George Coleman, sisters Melinda Kuebler of California and Kristine Kuebler (Cyle) of California and Iowa, brothers K. Michael Kuebler (Denise) of Iowa and William Kuebler (Laurie) of Belize, niece Kelsey Schmitz (Jay) and nephew Joseph Kuebler (Kaytlyn) both of Iowa, nephew Shae Kuebler (Marissa) of Alaska and several great-nieces and nephews.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, no service has been scheduled. Jody’s ashes will be scattered outside Kamaole III in Kihei.
Memorial contributions may be made in Jody's name to a charity of one's choice.
