Jody Melelani Gonsalves, 56, of Pukalani, passed away on March 17, 2026. She was born on February 6, 1970, in Wailuku to Joseph “Joe” Gonsalves, Sr. and Marcia Mapuana Gonsalves.
Jody will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and the selfless love she shared with everyone around her. She had a special gift for bringing laughter and warmth wherever she went. She loved spending time with her family, cherished the color purple, adored whales, and found great joy in coloring with her grandchildren, who held a very special place in her heart.
A loving and devoted mother, sister, and grandmother, Jody embraced her family with open arms and treated everyone with genuine kindness and unconditional love.
She is lovingly survived by her companion, Zachary Tampon; her sons, Jory Brittain-Gonsalves and Jayvin Brittain; her brothers, Marc (Roni) Gonsalves and Joseph “Joey” (Colleen) Gonsalves, Jr.; and her beloved grandchildren, Jayce and Jayla, who brought immense joy to her life. Also, numerous nephews and nieces that she took as her own.
She was preceded in death by her son, Justyce Brittain; her father, Joseph “Joe” Gonsalves Sr.; and her mother, Marcia Mapuana Gonsalves.
The family extends their heartfelt mahalo to all who knew and loved Jody for the overwhelming love, support, and prayers during this difficult time.
A service over urn will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at St. Anthony Church from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate Jody’s life and share in her memory. Family request purple attire in memory of her.
