John Kealoha Malaqui's Obituary
John "Kabula” Kealoha Malaqui, passed peacefully on Monday, January 9, 2023, in the loving care of his family. He leaves behind his wife Victoria (Prito), daughters Valerie Cherry, Cynthia (Randall Tsuneyoshi), Annette (Russell Yokote), and son Wesley (Marie Saito). Also, grandchildren Bryan Malaqui, Michel Cherry, Lee Yokote, Anela Sanchez, Tad Tsuneyoshi, Earl Tsuneyoshi, Sean Yokote, Resa Berry and Kevyn Yokote and 18 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sisters Julie Ishii, Rita Brandt, Myrna Carpio and sister-in-law Sylvia Malaqui. John was preceded in death by his brothers Gilbert and Joaquin and sister Elaine Middleton.
John was born in Pauwela, Maui to Juan Malaqui and Julia Kealoha Takahashi. He was a foreman with Fong Construction for many years. He then worked with the County before retiring. His passions were his family, fishing, hunting, playing cards with family members and traveling to Las Vegas.
John spent all of his 89 years on Maui and told family he was proud of the tough but rewarding life he lived.
