Joyce Etsuko Maeda's Obituary
Joyce Etsuko Maeda, 80 of Wailuku passed away peacefully at her home on April 18, 2016 with her loving family by her side.
Services honoring Mrs. Maeda were held privately at her request.
Joyce was born on June 15, 1935 to Tamotsu & Ellen Ishimoto. Joyce enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving as an Airman 2nd class. In 1958, she married the love of her life, Mr. James Maeda, and together they raised 6 wonderful children. She was a very intelligent and hard working woman, who not only cared for her family and home, but maintained several jobs throughout her life. Among them, she worked at Maui Pine Cannery, Don Taco at Maui Mall, Aki’s Grill at Aloha Lanes, the Lahaina post office, was a paramedic assistant, and worked at both Maui Memorial Medical Center and Hale Makua.
The Maeda family would like to extend their warmest Mahalo to MMMC- ER staff, Kahului Florist, Islands Hospice, Mark and the Team of Kokua Mau, and the Wailuku Fire Dept. Please, no flowers or koden.
Joyce leaves behind to cherish her memory, her beloved husband of 57 years, James Maeda; sons, Chris Maeda, Scott Maeda, Jon Maeda, Kevin Maeda; and daughters Alyson (Roland) Maeda-Dagulo, and Julianne Maeda. She also leaves behind her four treasured grandsons, Jourdan Maeda-Dagulo, Edwin, Marcus & Dylan Maeda.
