Joyce Ann Stuesse's Obituary
Joyce Ann Stuesse October 30, 1947 - May 26, 2024
Joyce Stuesse has returned to heaven from whence she came.
Thank you God, for allowing me to have this beautiful woman as my wife, my companion, and my friend for so many years.
Joyce was born in Washington, Missouri, and grew up on a farm in Beaufort, Missouri.
As a child, she remembered reading a book titled "Nurse Nancy" and would wrap dogs and cats with bandages pretending to nurse them. From her earliest memory, she wanted to make nursing her career.
Her mother, Dorothy, died when she was just a teenager, and would often feel the pain of that separation. Now they are together once again.
After graduating from Union High School, Joyce attended and graduated from nursing school in Kansas City, receiving a Registered Nursing degree.
After working as a Registered Nurse in Kansas City, she moved to San Diego, to work at various hospitals such as Grossmont, UCSD, and Kaiser Permenente.
Her work experience included Emergency Room, Dialysis, and Case Management, which added up to over 45 years of taking care of sick and elderly patients.
After retiring, we made Maui, Hawaii, our next and final home together. We knew each other for over 40 years, and were married for over 32.
Joyce played High School softball, ran marathons, enjoyed traveling, swimming, bike riding, camping, skiing, music concerts, and frequent weekend trips into Baja Mexico.
Listening to Blues Music was an extremely important part of her life. Singers like Johnny Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, Etta James, and B.B. King were her favorites. Along with the Doors, Santana, Hendrix, and Led Zeppelin.
Her love of raising and having Border Collies was a lifetime passion.
She made, and kept, numerous long time friends, who remained in her life until the end. She had an infectious smile and demeaner that welcomed everyone she met.
Joyce strove to do her very best, and was sensitive to the needs of those around her.
She was sweet, funny, kind, friendly, compassionate, adventurous, determined, full of life, and fearless beyond belief.
Her easy going, cheerful, manner and pleasantness disguised an inner concern and awareness of her own personal medical challenges.
Joyce was very special, and her memory will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
Surviving are her husband Robert Doty, daughter Debi Moldenhauer, 3 grand children, 2 great grand children, sisters Dede Bunker and Mary Cosner, and many life-long friends.
