Juana Padre Carlos' Obituary
It is with great sadness and heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Nanay, Juana Carlos, 86, at home in Kahului on November 28, 2022. Juana, or Juaning, as she is affectionately called by family and friends was born on August 19, 1936 in Libtong, Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines to Mariano Duran Padre and Simeona Ramento Domingcil.
She and her late husband, Pedro, were owners of 3 stores in Project 4 market, selling banana cue, coconut and ice cream. She and her family moved to Hawaii on June 5, 1982. She worked as a housekeeper at Lahaina Shores Hotel from 1983 and retired in 2003. She then worked part-time as a custodian at Maui Waena Intermediate School from February 2005 and retired on July 2018. She loves gardening and was always happy to share her vegetables with family and friends.
Juana is survived by her daughters, Rosebella (Alejandro Sr) Baclaan and Eleonor (Renato Sr) Galapon of Kahului; Mary Ann (Ahmad) Barik:zi of Oregon and son, Alexander (Summer) Carlos of Wailuku; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brother Vicente (Lita) Padre and sister Elen (Francisco-deceased) Cacal of Philippines. She was preceded in death by her spouse of 54 years, Pedro Carlos; parents; brothers Valeriano (Marina) Padre of Kahului, Jacinto (lnciang) Padre, Felix (Viring) Padre and sister Ramona Padre of Philippines.
Services for Juana will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023 at Nakamura Mortuary in Wailuku. Public visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Services will continue on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Nakamura from 9:30 am
to 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at 12:30 pm at Maui Memorial Park.
