To my dearest Auntie Aning,
Three and a half decades ago, you told me:
Study and be a nurse so you come to America.
You touched other people's lives in that way and I couldn't be more grateful for your love, generosity and strength. To your 4 siblings, you were the epitome of a perfect big sister, guiding each of them in the best, most loving way only you can.
I weep because we were supposed to meet once more. But I know you're now safe in Uncle's embrace, and that is my solace.
When I think about how you lived your life, I am in awe. You had so much to share, and yet you were so humble. You were a perfect wife and partner to Uncle. You were a strong mother and woman. You had integrity and your faith was unrelenting. You modeled hard work, even when you didn't need to work hard anymore.
I miss you, Auntie. When you meet my brother, please tell him he is also missed. And that he was loved.
As we go on living, we will reminisce the good times and how you weathered the rough seas. And how, when it was time to go, you went peacefully and quietly into the night.
