Judith Gail De Gregorio's Obituary
Judy Degregorio was the best Mom, wife, sister, friend, and Grandma. She was very
kind, loving, fun and goofy all at the same time. She was a great cook and party
planner, an accomplished artist, a decorated athlete, and one smart cookie. Simply the
Best.
Judith Gail Gallagher was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 4, 1936, to Edward and
Catherine (Kay) Gallagher. She was the eldest of four siblings, Edward, James, and
Victoria. Judy graduated from Redford High School in Detroit in 1954. She then
attended Albion College in Michigan where she joined Alpha Chi Omega sorority. At
Albion, she also met her future husband, David F. Jones. Judy and Dave married on
August 17,1957, and had three wonderful children, Dana Gail, Claudia Susan and
David Edward. In 1975, the family moved from the Detroit area to Aspen, Colorado,
after they purchased the Molly Gibson Lodge. Judy and Dave divorced in the late
1970’s. After the divorce, Judy met Peter Degregorio (Coach) at daughter
Claudia’s high school volleyball exhibition. He thought she was cute, and he asked her
out. They soon became a committed couple and had lots of fun adventures together.
Judy and Pete formally married on June 5, 2004. Judy lived a very full life, splitting her
time between Maui and Kalispell, Montana, where she had a plethora of fantastic
friends, whom she loved dearly. Judy also maintained good friendships with a few of
her college girlfriends. In Montana, she and Pete created this fantastic compound on
the Flathead River they named “Club Shed”. Their friend Bob made them a street sign
for their driveway and called it Rancho Relaxo Parkway, a perfect fit. Judy had an
amazing life, enjoying all that was put before her. She passed unexpectedly after a brief
illness on February 21, 2025 in Maui. Judy was 88.
Judy is survived by her devoted husband Pete, sister Vicky, her children, and
her grandchildren, Sean, Sophia, Vaughn and Petra, as well as many cousins and in-laws. Celebrations of Life are planned for Maui, San Diego and Kalispell. In lieu of
flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to Feed My Sheep Maui, Hawaii or Flathead Food Bank in Kalispell, MT.
