Kale Canfield
June 15, 1923 – March 27, 2017
Loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, teacher, coach, dance partner, and avid golfer. Born in Marietta, Ohio to Estella Christopher. Preceded in death by mother, one brother, two sisters, wife (Doris), and daughter (Patty). Kale received two bronze stars, heroically serving as a paratrooper, squad leader and platoon sergeant in the 82nd Airborne Infantry. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and liberated a concentration camp. Doris and Kale lived in Canton, OH., then Burbank, CA., and raised their five children: Craig, Brenda, Michelle, Patty & Vicky. After retiring as a teacher and District Athletic Director from the Burbank School District, Kale and Doris moved to Lake Wildwood in Penn Valley, CA. Terry passed away in 1997. Getting a second chance at love, Kale met and married Barbara Canfield in 1998, inheriting eight additional children and their families. Barb and Kale moved to Maui in 2012 and gathered many friends at the Kalama Heights Senior Residences. Kale passed away on March 27, 2017, surrounded by the love of his family and friends. We will miss him dearly.
