Kathlyn Kuulei Ibara's Obituary
Kathlyn Ibara, 63, of Wailuku, passed away peacefully at Maui Memorial Medical Center on March 25, 2017. Services honoring Ms. Ibara will be held at Kahului Jodo Mission on Friday, April 14, 2017. Visitation will begin at 3:00pm, with memorial services beginning at 4:00pm.

Kathlyn was born on January 24, 1954 in Waimanalo, Oahu, to Irineo & Katherine Barlahan. After graduating Baldwin high school in 1972, Kathlyn met and married her love, Gary Ibara with whom she raised three children with. She began her 25 year career with RME Construction Supply Company in 1992, where she was still employed at the time of her passing. Kathlyn was an avid bowler and a member of various leagues on Maui. Kathlyn was an incredible cook and baker. She was so well known for her widely sought after specialty, custard pie, that the Ibara kitchen was frequently overcome with baked goods.
Kathlyn was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Gary Ibara. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, companion, Steve Harada; daughters, Wanda (Zane) Ikegami & Alicia (Jason) Derego; son, Jonathan Swisher; 6 grandchildren and 2 greatgrandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Lorraine Luis, Leilani Barlahan & Marilyn Bullock; brothers, Eric, John (Luann) & Sam (Kiki) Barlahan; and sister-in-law, Kathy (Vince) Yoshimoto.
