Kaulangi Ngatuvai Finau's Obituary

Kaulangi Ngatuvai Finau, born in Vava'u, Tonga on November 16, 1964, peacefully passed away on October 28, 2024. She was the beloved daughter of the late Saulala and Anau Suli Ngatuvai and the cherished youngest of five siblings.
In 1991, Kaulangi and her husband, Siosaia Fisi’ihoi Finau, moved to Lahaina, Hawaii, where they welcomed their daughter, Lupe Lei'aloha Leha, in 1995. Kaulangi was a devoted mother and grandmother, nurturing her family with unwavering love and support. She is survived by her siblings Lavinia Kauvaka, Laponi Ngatuvai, Nuku Ngatuvai, and Ofakilaie Tonga, as well as her daughter Lupe, son-in-law Rocky Leha, and grandchildren Angelina Katokakala, Kaulangi Luseane, and Tu'ihoua Saia Leha.
A woman of virtue and grace, Kaulangi was deeply committed to her faith and community. As a steadfast member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she dedicated herself to serving both her Heavenly Father and her community. Her strength and generosity were felt by many, as she gave without expectation and loved without hesitation. She lovingly cared for her parents in their later years, exemplifying the selflessness that defined her life.
Viewing will be held at the Maui Lani Stake Center on November 11, 2024. Family viewing will take place from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM, followed by public viewing from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM. A bishop's service will be held from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. The address for the Maui Lani Stake Center is 1300 Mauilani Parkway, Kahului, HI 96732.
Burial will follow at Maui Memorial Park at 2:00 PM, located at 45 Waiale Road, Wailuku, HI 96793.
Kaulangi’s spirit, marked by her unwavering faith and dedication to family, will forever be remembered and cherished. Her legacy will continue to resonate through her family and the many lives she touched within the Tongan community of Lahaina.
In the words of Alma 37:37, “Fealea'aki mo e 'Eiki 'i he me'a Kotoa pe te ke fai, pea te ne fakahinohino'i koe 'i he me'a 'oku lelei; 'io, 'o ka ke ka tokoto hifo 'i he po'uli tokoto hifo ki he 'Eiki, koe'uhi ke ne tokanga'i koe 'i ho'o mohe; pea 'o ka ke ka tu'u hake 'i he pongipongi tuku ke fonu ho loto i he fakafeta'i ki he 'Otua; pea kapau te ke fai 'a e ngaahi me'a ni, 'e hiki hake koe i he 'aho faka'osi."
