Kay Kazuko Fukuda
March 30, 1922 – November 18, 2022
Kay Kazuko Fukuda, 100, of Kula, Maui passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her children.
She was born in Tokyo, Japan to Seiichi and Hisa Ohata. A graduate of Maui High and the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Kay went to the mainland for graduate studies and worked as a dietician. While living in Wisconsin, Kay’s older brother introduced her to Ippu Fukuda, whom she married in 1958. They remained married until his death in 1979. Kay returned to Maui in 1985 and started volunteering at Kula Hospital.
Kay took great joy in raising a family, as well as cooking, sewing, and reading.
She is survived by a son Philip, daughters Mary (David) Daugherty and Hisa, and two grandchildren Seth and Matthew.
Services held at Nakamura Mortuary on December 2nd, 2022.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Illastron and the nurses at Hospice Maui for Kay’s care in her final days.
