Kenneth "Masa" Masaichi Okada's Obituary
KENNETH MASAICHI OKADA passed away peacefully at the Hospice Maui on Oct 24, 2023.
"Masa" as he was known by his brothers was born on September 19, 1939 in Lahaina, Maui. He is the oldest of six siblings: Ronald (Charlotte) Okada, Melvin ( Maurine) Okada, Glen (Cleopatra) Okada, Larry Okada, Wesley (Aleta) Okada. He was predeceased by his parents Masayuki and Sumiye Okada of Lahaina.
Masa joined the Army in 1959 with 54th Sig Co as a Radar Technician. He got his degree from Northrop Institute of Technology. After an honorable discharge from the Army, he was hired by Federal Air Aviation (FAA) . Masa worked for FAA at the Kahului Airport for 33 years. On the weekends and time off he was busy driving around his children Diane, Steven, and Jean to tennis practice and tournaments. He was a dedicated father who enjoyed watching his kids compete in all the tennis tournaments. He would travel every summer to the Big Island, Kauai, and Oahu to support their junior tennis. After the kids finished high school, he traveled to the mainland to support their college tennis. During retirement, he enjoyed reading, swimming, and taking his dog on walks.
He was a supportive and loyal husband, father, brother, and grandpa. “We miss and love you Masa. You will always be in our hearts. Love your Ohana.”
He is survived by his wife Nguyen Okada; children, Jack Okada, Guy Okada, Sharon Okada, Diane Okada, Steven Okada, and Jean Okada; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Keaka, Nathan, Kendra, Cherie, Riley, Katie, Keanu, Noah, and Kekoa; great-grand children Allanah, Adam, Avery, Addison, and Claire.
