Kikue Takaki's Obituary
Kikue “Kay” Takaki, 96, of Kahului, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2021, at Hale Makua Kahului. She was born on September 27, 1924, to Kichizo & Yuki (Uchida) Nagato.
Kikue was a talented seamstress and worked for many years at Ted’s Men’s Wear in Wailuku. She was also a longtime salesclerk at Robins at the Queen Ka’ahumanu Shopping Center. She and her husband Minoru traveled extensively throughout the U.S. mainland and Japan with their friends, and especially enjoyed playing the slots in Las Vegas several times a year. Her four grandchildren were the light of her life.
Kikue is pre-deceased by her beloved husband and parents; brothers, Hajime, Yoshio, Tatsuo and Nobuyuki; and sister, Yukie. She is survived by sons, Leighton and Gordon (Janice); daughter, Wendy (Dain) Kane; grandchildren, Davis (Bethany) Kane, Jaimelyn (Jay) Paa, Mika’ele Kane and Reina Takaki; great-grandchildren, Crystal Jade, Julian David, Jace and Jaxsen Paa, and Hiwa Kane; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Hale Makua Kahului, who took great care of Kikue for 7+ years, and to Hospice Maui (especially JoAnn) for keeping her comfortable in her final days.
