Kikuo Hoshino's Obituary
Kikuo Hoshino, 88, of Lahaina passed away peacefully at Hale Makua Kahului on May 04, 2017 with his loving family by his side.
Funeral services for Mr. Hoshino will be held at Nakamura Mortuary in Wailuku on Monday, May 15, 2017. Visitation will begin at 4:00 pm with memorial services to follow at 6:00 pm.
Kikuo was born in Lahaina to Saichi and Chiyono (Okihiro) Hoshino. He was the second of nine children.
An Army Veteran, Kikuo was very active with the Lahaina Veterans Club and cooked for many of their Memorial Day Celebrations honoring fellow veterans.
After retiring from The Lahaina Shopping Center, Kiku (as he was fondly referred to), spent his time loving, caring and cooking for his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and the numerous hanai children and grandchildren that knew him simply as, “Dad, Pops and Papa”. To many of his friends, he was “Hoshi”.
His love for the ocean and passion for fishing was unmeasurable. It was his lifeline. Always making sure he caught enough to feed his family and share with others. He loved cooking and seeing how much his food nourished the bodies of those he loved. He enjoyed nights spent at Kaanapali Beach Hotel’s Tiki Bar dancing and singing and trips to Las Vegas.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, brother Clark (Alice) Hoshino of Honolulu, wife, Adline, children, Shelley (John), Cupid, Mitchell (deceased), Thomas (Dora), April (Kawehi) and Len. (14) grandchildren and (13) great-grandchildren.
