Kinue "Jane" Okubo's Obituary
Kinue “Jane” Okubo, 92, of Kahului passed away peacefully on February 28, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Services honoring Mrs. Okubo will be held at Kahului Hongwanji on Friday, March 17, 2017. Visitation will begin at 4:00pm with services beginning at 5:00pm.
Nakamura Mortuary is assisting with arrangements.
Kinue was born on January 23, 1925 in Kihei to Rikichi & Sadako Shimoma. In 1951, she married her love, Masaru Okubo and together they raised three children. Kinue loved children so much, she began babysitting for family and friends. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, making sushi and chatting with friends. She will be remembered as a gentle, loving and compassionate woman.
Kinue was predeceased by her parents, Rikichi & Sadako Shimoma; brother, Toshisada Shimoma & sister, Reiko Yamashiro.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her beloved husband of over 66 years, Masaru Okubo; son, Paul (Adrienne) Okubo; daughters, Robyne (Paul) Tokunaga & Cheryl Okubo; grandsons, Shane & Ty Okubo, and Reece & Chad Tokunaga; sister, Jean (Val) Villarimo; sister-in-law, Sue Shimoma; and many loving nieces and nephews.
