Kwi Ae Esquibel's Obituary
Born as Chun Kwi Ae on October 7th 1961, In Teague, South Korea. She met her Husband in 1988, and married on July 31 1990. She migrated to the United States in 1991 and arrived in Hawaii in 1992. Kwi Ae earned her American citizenship in November 1996.
She worked in the A+ after school program for a couple of years, then moved on to the school cafeterias. She worked Pukalani and Makawao Elementary, as well as Kalama Intermediate. She retired in June 2020, and died June 30th 2021, due to a prolonged fight with Lung cancer. She Loved photography, K-Pop music, hiking, children and SHOPPING.
When Kwi Ae got to Maui she knew almost no-one, could not drive, did not have a computer, and barely spoke any English. Worst of all, it rained and rained and rained the first few months she was here. She used that time to learn English, mostly via the TV. She made friends with a neighbor who helped her to learn to drive, and got her started in the A+ program.
She readily adapted to using a computer, and loved her smart phone.
She loved kids, and they loved her. When she was shopping, parents would wonder who she was when their kids ran up to her and hugged her. She loved Christmas, and thought she was Santa Claus. She hated to see a child with no present.
She was a strong woman, and knew what she liked, usually only Da best would do. Her beautiful smile could light up a room. She will be missed. Kwi Ae means Noble Love
