Larry Shoji Honda's Obituary
Larry Shoji Honda, 89, of Kahului, passed away peacefully at Hale Makua Kahului on March 14, 2017, with his loving family by his side.
Services honoring Mr. Honda will be held at Wailuku Hongwanji Mission on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. A visitation will begin at 4:00pm, with memorial services beginning at 5:00pm.
Nakamura Mortuary is assisting with arrangements.
Larry was born on September 6, 1927, in Sprecklesville to Shigeru & Michio Honda. He was the fourth of eight children. After attending Maui High School and Maui Vocational School, Larry proudly served in the U.S. Army. Larry began his career as a mechanic at Kahului Railroad, which later became KT&S, where he retired as a scalesman. Larry was also an avid golfer.
Mr. Honda leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 59 years, Margaret Honda; son, Mel Honda; daughter, Jacqueline (Russell) Taketa; granddaughters, Dayna & Kylie Taketa; sisters, Lei Masuda & Mae (Ernest) Puni; and sister-in-law, Judy Honda.
