Lee Edward Twist's Obituary
Lee Edward Twist, 92, of Kula, Maui passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at Maui Memorial Medical Center.
Lee was born in Wallington, New Jersey on September 17, 1930, to Spencer and Marie Twist. After graduating from Rutherford High School in 1949 and serving in the US Navy, Lee attended Northrop Aeronautical Institute graduating with a degree in aeronautical engineering. Lee moved to Maui in 1972 after accepting a position as Senior Engineer with Avco Everett Research Laboratory and retired in 1997.
Lee is predeceased by his first wife Helen Ann (Eickhoff) Twist and daughter Suzanne Lee (Twist) Bascar.
Lee is survived by his loving wife Elaine of 41 years; daughters Marie (Larryl) Matthews of New Mexico and Karen Weeks of Haiku; son John (Nani) Twist of Makawao; stepson Robin (Allison) McMillan of Kula; brother John (Arlene) Twist of Ohio; nephew Spencer Twist of South Carolina; niece Alina Newland of Maryland. Lee leaves behind fourteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren and thirteen great-great-grandchildren.
Please join us in celebrating his life at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Kahului on Saturday, May 20th at 3:00 pm. Refreshments will follow.
A private scattering of his ashes at sea will take place at a later date.
