Lore Schaefer's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Mrs. Lore Schaefer
December 16, 1934 - June 22, 2025
Mrs. Lore Schaefer passed away peacefully on the island of Maui on June 22, 2025, after spending six beautiful and joyful months in the paradise she loved so dearly. She was 90 years
Lore was bor on December 16, 1934, in the small town of Backnang, Germany. Her early years were shaped by the hardships of World War II, a time she often recalled with vivid memories, especially the fear she felt when the sirens sounded and she had to run to the bunkers during air raids as a young child.
In 1957, Lore married her childhood neighbor, Ewald Schaefer. She became the beloved mother of two daughters: Susanne undermann of Backnang, Germany, and Birgit Schaefer Weber of Haiku, Maui. She was also a proud and devoted grandmother to Alea Weber of Los Angeles, California, and Julian Weber, currently studying in New York.
A gifted violinist, Lore had a deep love for music, especially classical pieces and lively party hits from the 1940s and 1950s. Her home was often filled with laughter, good food, and dancing
After becoming a mother, Lore balanced her part-time work as a secretary with her true passion: being a homemaker. She found great joy in raising her daughters, tending to her home and garden, and immersing herself in books of all kinds. Lore also had a lifelong love for animals, especially cats, and always found comfort in their companionship.
In her later years, Lore visited Maui many times, eventually fulfilling her dream of spending extended time on the island. She adored Hawaii, its beauty, its spirit, the lush green trees, the vast ocean, but most of all, she loved watching the clouds drift across the clear blue sky. In her final months, this simple act brought her deep peace. She often spoke of how much she enjoyed observing the trees, listening to the rain and birds, and soaking in the stillness and wonder of nature around her.
Lore will be remembered for her warmth, her laughter, her resilience, and her deep love for her family, friends, and animals. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a gift for making people laugh, even in the hardest moments. She was the most giving person, always ready to help anyone and everyone. She would have given her last penny to someone in need, without hesitation. Her selflessness, generosity, and boundless kindness leave behind a legacy of love and compassion that will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
