Madeline Helekahi's Obituary
Madeline “Maddie” Leilani Cosma Helekahi 85 of Hana,Maui was born on June 20,1939 to Beatrice Waiwaiole Cosma and Manuel Felix Cosma in Hana. She passed away peacefully at Maui Memorial Medical Center with family by her side on September 3, 2024.
Maddie graduated in 1957 from Kaimuki High School then joined the United States Army. Later she returned to Hana and worked at the Hana Ranch Store as assistant manager for over 30 years until retirement. After retiring she still had multiple jobs. When she finally decided to stop working, she spent her time loving on her grandchildren.
She was a lifelong faithful parishioner of St.Mary’s Catholic Church in Hana and loved to pray the rosary daily. She loved God and her church. She was known for her ono cooking for birthday luaus, weddings, church fundraisers you name it. Always loving, hardworking and so generous to give!
Survived by her brothers Steven (Ipo) Cosma, Manuel (Georgia) Cosma and Leroy (Lynn) Cosma; daughters, Sanoe (Chris) Sinenci, Ilona Cabral and Kalani Whittington; sons Charles (Marnie) Cabral and Mark Cabral; 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. As well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her beloved husband Bratton Helekahi; sister Josephine Greig Blair; brothers Andrew Cosma, Pekelo (Robin) Cosma and Patrick (Lehua) Cosma.

Visitation will be held from 830am-1030am at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hana on Saturday, September 28,2024. Mass begins at 11 am. Burial at Pu’uiki Cemetery. Lunch to follow.
