Mamerta Guerra Ramos' Obituary
Mamerta “ Martha ” Guerra Ramos took her final breaths and peacefully passed away on March 10, 2022 during the daytime hours as she calmly lay in bed at home surrounded by loved ones.
Martha was born in Maui,HI. But no more than a few years later she would become “lost,” or rather taken by her father to the Philippines. Her mother, although heartbroken, had no choice and continued on with her life in Hawaii. Years would pass and Martha would grow into adulthood. Until one day somehow by chance she was “found” and recognized by her mother’s relatives. This lead to an opportunity to return to her mother and to continue her own life that she would live in Hawaii.
She had lived a long life spaning over 96 years fulfilled with satisfaction and gratitude. Never once taking anything for granted.
Each and everyday she would take a seat outside by the porch and patiently wait to see what the day would bring. She always greeted the neighbors as they passed by. Sometimes friends would pop in and check up on her. Now and then she would manage to get herself up just to try and catch one of her grandkids so she could give them a big hug and kiss. But most of the time she sat there in silence not wanting to be bothered, she just wanted to take that moment to reflect and appreciate everything that surrounded her. She saw the beauty in it all. Even in her later years of life when her sight began fading she never needed to see what was in front of her. She already knew what was there. It was the beauty she saw in her family that she created and helped raise.
She was a beloved grandmother, mother, and wife. She loved her family unconditionally, especially her husband, Alfredo Ramos, who had preceded her in death. She missed him immensely, and from time to time had even called out for him. At least now they are back together again. She is also preceded by her parents Frederico Guerra and Louisa “Theresa” Panis, including siblings Margaret “Marge” Panis Abellanida and Selen “Barney” Panis. She is survived by her other siblings Virgie Dofa and Alfredo “Felipe” Panis. This includes her children Jose Ramos, Samuel Ramos, Ofelia (Telly) Guillermo, Jay (Connie) Ramos Sr., Manuel Ramos, Amparo Coloma, and Ely (Nida) Ramos. She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren and 10 great granchildren. She will be dearly missed by all.
Funeral Services will be held at Nakamura Mortuary on Tuesday, March 29, 2022. Visitation from 10am to 11am and services will be at 11:00am. Soon afterwards the burial will follow at Maui Memorial Park at 12:30pm.
