Margaret Jean Ward's Obituary
Margaret Jean Ward, affectionately known as Peggy, passed away on July 20th, 2024, in Maui Hawaii.
Peggy was born to Mary & Kenneth Collins on April 8th, 1951, in San Diego, California. She was the oldest of seven children in the Collins family, followed by twin sisters Arline Shanback and Darlene Allwright, brother Frank Collins, brother Bert Collins, and late brother Timothy Collins, along with little sissy Laura Prendergast.
Peggy attended Crawford High School in San Diego. In 1968 she married her now late husband Frederick Ward whom she had been married to for 47 years. She was in the banking industry for many years making her way to the top as an Operational Manager. In 1989 Peggy and Fred moved to Eugene Oregon where they operated the Duckworth Bed and Breakfast Inn on E19th St. In 1995 Peggy and Suzanne Jackson, longtime best friend, partnered to purchase the Piccadilly Flea Market at the Eugene Fairgrounds where they operated it for over 20 years before selling the business.
Peggy was an avid Gardener, enjoyed playing Scrabble with her siblings, putting puzzles together, clothes shopping, sipping tea, and a keen bird watcher always having a bird bath wherever she lived. Her organization skills down to having Christmas gifts bought months in advance, perfectly wrapped with the most elegant bows, were just some of the cherished memories she will leave behind. She was always soft spoken and had a kind word for anyone she would meet. Supporting many non-profit organizations giving to the needy was always a soft spot for her. Love & Family was truly what her legacy was about.
