Mary Ok Ne Tomlinson's Obituary
Mary Ok Ne Tomlinson passed away on April 22nd at Maui Memorial Medical Center. She was born on April 3rd, 1932 in Puukoo, Molokai.
She graduated from H.P. Baldwin High School in 1950 and served in the Army for 8 years as a Stenographer and Translator. Upon returning to Maui in 1976 she worked for the Federal Aviation Administration starting out as a secretary and working her way into the position of Electronics Technician, retiring in 1999.
She was an avid reader and known for her cooking and baking. She was also fiercely (and stubbornly) independent with a non-judgmental and very kind heart, full of generosity, and was loved by all who knew her.
Mary is pre-deceased by her parents Chai Bong Kim and Bok Soon Kim; her brothers Bomani “BJ” (Misao) Kim and John (Juliana) Kim; and sisters Harriet (Shoichi “Baer”) Kawate and Sonia Anna Kim. She is survived by her sisters Pauline (Ray) Smith and Rebecca Kim; daughters Kathleen (Scott) Allen and Kimberly (Greg) Jones; sons John Tomlinson and Charles (Miriam) Tomlinson; former husband Robert Tomlinson; 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Public viewing for Mary will take place at Nakamura Mortuary on Friday, May 29, 2020 from 9:00am to 11:00am. She will be laid to eternal rest privately immediately following. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we are only allotted 40 people on property. We kindly ask that you come and pay your respects but allow others an opportunity by limiting your time with Mary.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s memory may be made to the Maui Food Bank, one of the many local agencies she supported.
