Melvamay Leimomi Benjamin's Obituary
Melvamay "Honey Girl" Leimomi Benjamin, 71, of Lahaina, Hawaii, perished in August 2023.
Melva was born on September 4, 1951 to Miriam (Cup Choy) and George Pastrana in Ho'olehua, Moloka'i. She was the second eldest of five kids. After her birth mother had passed at an early age, Rita Pastrana raised Melva and her siblings, and added four more siblings to their family.
Melva graduated from Moloka'i High School. She got her associates degree from Maui Community College. After college, she got a job at Hawaiiantel Phone Company where she worked until her retirement to Lahaina, Maui with partner, Edward Sato.
Melva was predeceased by biological mother Miriam Pastrana (Cup Choy), father George Pastrana, stepmother Rita Pastrana, and son Jake Benjamin.
She is survived by her three children Jonnamae Makua (David), John Benjamin III (Janell), and Jaylund Benjamin (Jayme), eleven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind eight siblings, their spouses, and many more loved ones.
Service will be held on October 7, 2023 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Kula, Maui. Visitation over ashes at 11a. Service at 1p. Food to follow. Melva's ashes will be spread in private with immediate family. Mahalo for all your thoughts and prayers.
