Michael Kiysohi Kamada's Obituary
Michael Kiyoshi Kamada, 75, of Kihei, Maui, passed away peacefully at home on July 5, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Michael was born on May 18, 1951, in Wailuku, Hawaiʻi. He was the only son of Sam Masato and Nobuko Kamada. A hardworking and talented man, Michael was known for his ability to do just about anything. He worked in plumbing, electrical work, construction, and many other trades, earning a reputation as a skilled and dependable handyman. He also owned and operated Karaoke On Wheels, bringing music, and enjoyment to many throughout the community.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Sam Masato and Nobuko Kamada, and his eldest sister, Edith (Richard) Hasegawa.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Lyn Sakamura-Kamada; his children, Kristen (Keenan) Lau and Matthew (Nicole) Kamada; his sisters, Erma (Ronald) Soma, Janis (Colin) Hiranaga, Lois Kamada, and Jessica Burns; his grandchildren, Kacie and Kasen Lau, Logan Kamada, and Kaylee, Blair, Brooke, and Luke LaBarre; as well as many nieces, nephews, and relatives, who will miss him dearly.
Services will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Makawao Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, 1074 Makawao Avenue, Makawao, Hawaiʻi. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. Lunch will follow the service.

Michael’s generosity, strong work ethic, and love for his family will be remembered always. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, kindness, and countless memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
