Mildred Nitta's Obituary
Mildred Nitta, 89, of Kahului, Maui passed away on March 30, 2020 at Hospice Maui.She was born in Paia, to Matajiro and Kaoru Arai, on December 1, 1930. Mildred graduated Maui High School and went on to sewing
school. She retired from Maui Farmers’ Cooperative Exchange as a bookkeeper and salesperson. After her retirement, she worked part time as a cashier at Broke da Mouth and later as a waitress at Roselani Place. In her spare time, she began golfing which was her passion. If she wasn’t on the golf course, she would be watching it on TV. Her other enjoyments included traveling (Japan, Okinawa, New Zealand, California, Caribbean cruise, and Las Vegas), being with family, and relaxing at the beach. She cherished her family gatherings and being around her grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family will be scheduling a “Celebration of Life” service at a later date. Nakamura Mortuary will be assisting the family with arrangements. She was predeceased by parents Matajiro and Kaoru Arai, brother Fred Tsukumo Arai, and sisters Patsy Fumiyo Araki, Janice Akiyo Kawachi, Rose Tomie Ohashi, Catherine Itsuko Tomita. She is survived by husband Kaoru and daughters Sandra (Glenn) Sato, Lorraine (Ronald) Ishikawa, Leslie (Bill Kearsley) Nitta, Annette (Anthony Balag) Nitta, grandchildren Daryl (Maki) Sato, Michelle (Kyle) Senamontry, Brittney and Cody Nitta-Lee, Cory, Brennan and Alec Morimoto, Ronson Ishikawa, great grandchildren Ella and Ashton Senamontry, and sister Harriet Haruko (Calvin) Goshi.
