Miriam Leinani Ryder, 86
Embraced in the spirit of aloha with ʻohana at her side, Miriam Leinani Ryder, 86 of Kahaluʻu, Oʻahu & Kula, Maui, passed into the light peacefully at home on October 23, 2018. She was born on July 16, 1932 in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi to Myrtle Melekiliwina Bradford & John Kawailani Kaikuaʻana Moses.
Her professional life included service at the East West Center, University of Hawaiʻi & retirement with the State of Hawaiʻi Department of Hawaiian Homelands.
Miriam is survived by her husband of 66 years, Frank Puanani Ryder Jr. Sister, Myrtle (Donald) Jay, Children, Leona Lei’ohu & Maydeen, Kawehi & Debbie, Tiare & Alva, Mitchell, Miliaulani & Scott, Barrett Kalama, 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, family, friends & hānai that she lovingly embraced during her lifetime.
She was predeceased by grandson’s Iōkewe Ryder & Keoniana Ryder.
Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, November 17, 2018 from 10:00 am - 12:30 pm followed by ʻAha ʻAina Make a me ka Haku at Ulu Mau Village at Heʻeia Kea, Oʻahu.
