Naomi Reinhardt Araki's Obituary
Naomi Reinhardt Araki, 80, of Wailuku, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 27, 2025. Naomi was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, hanai mother, aunty, and dear friend to so many, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion and generosity. A proud graduate of Kamehameha Schools Kapālama, Class of 1964, Naomi carried her Hawaiian values throughout her life, living with aloha and sharing it freely. She served her community as a former member of the VFW Post 3850 Women’s Auxiliary in Kīhei, always eager to give back and support those around her. Naomi was a hardworking woman who owned her own hair salon, managed the family’s taxi and airline baggage delivery business, and later worked as an educational assistant and bus driver. Naomi was a wonderful, loving, and caring woman whose home was always open. She welcomed everyone with warm hospitality- feeding all who came by and, in many cases, offering them a place to stay. To countless people, she was like a second mother, treating them as her own keiki. She gave selflessly, never asking for anything in return, always wearing a bright smile and sharing a sense of humor that could lift any heart. Naomi’s kindness knew no bounds. Her gentle spirit and open arms made everyone feel loved and accepted. Naomi’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched. Though she may no longer be with us in person, her aloha and generous spirit will continue to guide us always. Naomi is survived by her husband of 56 years, Samuel Araki; daughters, LeeAnn Peña-Araki (Isaac Peña-Parrilla), Janice Lacno (Paul Lacno), and Debbie Lum Ho (Steven Lum Ho); and hanai son/nephew, Kenji Enomoto (Nani Enomoto). She is also survived by her sisters, Noelani Almeida, Sing Vista, and Hannah Carvahlo-Antonio; grandchildren, Justin Araki, Jared Souza, Kelsea Lacno, Leslee Muller, Nainoa Lum Ho, Alia Lum Ho, Isaac “Kaleo” Peña, Dylan Peña, Caleb Peña and Shayne Enomoto; ten great-grandchildren; and twelve nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Catalino “CB” Antonio and Hannah Carvalho- Antonio; brother, Catalino “Bully” Antonio; sister, June Enomoto; daughter, Laurie Ann Araki; and nephew, Filbert Carvalho Jr. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all of her caretakers - Dina Holbron, Maui Adult Day Care Centers, Medardo & Annie Lagat, as well as Kaiser and Hospice Maui. In accordance with Naomi’s wishes, no services will be held. Memorial donations may be made to Maui Adult Day Care Centers or Hospice Maui.
