Nobuko I. Nakasone's Obituary
Nobuko “Helen” Nakasone, 93 passed away on January 21, 2018 at Hale Makua Wailuku under the care of Hospice Maui. She was born on July 19, 1924 at Paia Hospital to Jiro Ishikawa and Sei Higa.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Nakamura Mortuary from 9:00am to 10:00am with prayer service to begin at 10:00am. Nakamura Mortuary assisted with arrangements.
In 1941, as a 17year old, she was a Candy Striper at Paia and Haliimaile dispensaries. She graduated from Maui High School in Hamakuapoko in 1942. Upon graduation she was a nurse at Paia, Puunene and Maui Memorial Hospital. She retired in 1979 as a Licensed Practice Nurse from Maui Memorial Hospital. Nobuko was an avid crocheter, and enjoyed making prune mui and sun-baked lemons. The family would like to thank the staff of Hale Makua Wailuku Molokai Unit for the excellent care afforded to our mother. The Family also would like to express appreciation to Hospice Maui Staff for making our mother’s final hours comfortable and peaceful.
Nobuko is predeceased by husband, Shiro “Boss” Nakasone; brother, Gensei “James” Ishikawa and sister, Sayoko Ishikawa; survived by her children, David (Ellen) Nakasone, Stanley Nakasone, and Sharon (Robert) Matsuura; sisters, Hatsue “Ethel” Recania, Hamiko “Kathryn” Higa, Tomi “Harriet” (Edward) Oshiro and Yuriko (Eishin) Tengan; grandson, Riki Matsuura.
