Nobuo Tengan's Obituary
Nobuo “Dyke” Tengan, 89, of Wailuku passed away peacefully on February 8, 2017 at Maui Memorial Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Services honoring Mr. Tengan were held privately.
Nobuo was born on May 5, 1927 to Teishin & Tara Tengan. He was the ninth of twelve children. After graduating from Baldwin high school, Nobuo proudly served in the U.S. Army and upon his return, became a mechanic with Maui Land & Pineapple Co., retiring in 1990. In his earlier years, “Dyke” was an avid tako and ogo diver and could be found at Waiehu golf course several times a week. He enjoyed talking story with friends and family, and always had a good joke and malasadas on hand for his grandkids.
Nobuo was predeceased by his beloved wife, Sue Sueko (Watanabe) Tengan & his grandson. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, daughters, Arlene (Jim) McGuire, Sharon (Nelson) Camara & Faith (Alan) Nakamoto; son, Lyle (Karen) Tengan; 7 grandchildren & 9 great grandchildren. He is also survived by brother, Sadanori (Michele) Tengan; sister, Janet (George) Arakawa; sister-in-laws, Misao & Gladys Tengan; brother-in-law, Yoshiharu Tengan; and many treasured nieces and nephews.
