We met Pete at the Upcountry Fair on Maui, where he represented SPCA and our dog Kui fell in love with him. From then on he was „our man“ in all questions dog and pet related. And nobody can trim a cute Aussi butt like Pete did! He convinced us to „foster“ Rhea, knowing that she was a perfect addition to our family. As I‘m sure he knew we would, we „foster-failed“ and kept her. We will be forever thankful that he found her for us.
Even when we had to move to TX we stayed in touch Thx to social media. I loved seeing his „good morning from Makawao“ and his „for the love of old houses“ posts! He inspired us to foster here in TX and to especially love the old and unwanted dogs.
He was also the only other person I knew (on Maui) who knew who Zaha Hadid was and who liked the Le Corbusier LC4 Chaise Longue (He said that you didn’t Pete M. so he didn’t mind taking it out of the house).
I very much loved his broad interests and his love for animals and humans. My daughter Hannah and I will always strive to be as kind and generous as he was. We miss you very much Pete! We‘re sending lots of Love & Aloha to Pete M and Lori and the rest of his family human and dog alike.

Peter came to my house, close to 15 years ago, to teach my 4 children how to work with our new puppy. We got a border collie “Shaka”. Peter continued to be a big part of Shaka’s and our lives. When Shaka was 13 1/2 years old he got lymphoma cancer. Peter took him to the Vet for me as I was out of town . I came home the next day and Peter was with me when we put him down. He was more than a friend. He was family. I love you Peter. Hug Shaka for me.

Peter had genuine love for all animals with gracious service to them and mankind. He truly is a hero. His dedication to the homeless and less fortunate was inspirational. Thank you sweet Peter. You are loved and missed.

Pete was always such a delightful and good person. He took such good care of Maggie and Frankie. Were it not for him I wouldn’t have my sweet Frankie. I’ll never forget the day he brought him to me. Such a loving and caring man. I will miss him alot. Aloha hui ho Pete.

Peter’s presence here on Maui will be missed. He was a blessing to those who knew him, especially the animals. Peter went out of his way to help homeless animals and homeless people too by providing meals and supplies. It was an honor to know him. Condolences to his family.
