Purificacion Esteban Adzuara's Obituary
Purificacion Esteban Adzuara, of Wailuku, Maui, also known as “Pering” and “Puri”, passed away on August 22, 2025, at Hale Makua Kahului at the age of 84. She was born in Sto Domingo, Bambang Nueva Vizcaya in the Philippines on November 16, 1940. She is survived by her husband, Melchor Adzuara; daughters, Nieves Gooyabadi of Colorado, Jessie Adzuara of California, and Lyn (Jesse) Alpuro; grandchildren – Reza (Zaynab) Pharaa of New York, Maryam (Nikhil Addleman) Gooyabadi of Connecticut, Hadi Gooyabadi of Colorado, Justin (Asti) Alpuro of Las Vegas, Jason (Sonali) Alpuro of California, Kristyn Alpuro, Layton Alpuro, and Megan Alpuro. Great-grandchildren: Suren and Samara Addleman; Noah, Ezekiel, Ella, Haven and Orion Alpuro. Sisters: Pilar (Ernesto) Carnate of Philippines; Tessie (Benito) Cuello, Robert (Luz *deceased) Esteban and Nestor Esteban. Sister-in-law: Glenda (Antonio deceased) Esteban. Pre-deceased siblings: sister Rafaela Dumlao and brothers Antonio and Eufresino Esteban. Purificacion worked as a janitor at the Kahului Airport and prior to that, as a housekeeper at the Kapalua Bay Hotel. She loved to make friends wherever she went. Her greatest past times were cooking, spending time with family, taking care of her grandkids, and traveling, especially to the 9th Island of Las Vegas. 9-day Novena prayers to start at the Adzuara home in Waiehu on Friday, September 26 at 6 pm. Parking is limited so please carpool. Funeral Service will be on Saturday October 4, 2025, at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church at 2140 Main Street in Wailuku. Viewing is at 9 am. Eulogy is at 10:45, and service at 11 am. Parking available in the Wailuku Garage parking structure at 30 N. Church Street near the church. $2 for first 2 hours, $1 per hour thereafter. Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. at Maui Memorial Park. Lunch to follow at church parish hall. Thank you to the care staff and nurses at Maui Memorial Hospital, Hospice Maui, Hale Makua Kahului especially the Pikake neighborhood, and everyone who went to visit Purificacion in the hospital and Hale Makua. Your outpouring of love and care will forever be remembered.
